Why is it important?

Our findings highlight the potential for using observers’ ratings as an alternate measure of communication to more labor intensive frequency measures.

Perspectives

The comparisons of different measures in the paper are important because there is no gold standard for the measurement of communication, and few studies have compared across more than two different methods of measuring similar behaviors.
