What is it about?

Talent management has become a key concern for organisational leaders around the globe. However, as yet we have a very poor understanding how talent management is defined and how it can impact on organisational performance. In the context of multinational corporations, we set out to develop a theoretical framework of how talent management can improve organisational performance at individual, subsidiary and HQ levels.

Why is it important?

Global talent management is at the top of the agenda for many managers. However organisations often struggle to manage talent effectively. These challenges are amplified in the context of the multinational corporations which needs to address these challenges on an international scale and balance global and local tensions in the process. We provide insights on the key factors that need to be taken into account at HQ, subsidiary and individual levels in ensuring global talent management can positively impact on sustainable organisational performance.

Perspectives

This was a super article to work on. I got to work with two of my favourite co-authors and the diversity of perspectives we brought to the question greatly helped the paper. Wayne brought the micro/psychological perspective to the discussion, Kamel brought a more macro/strategic perspective. These perspectives nicely complemented my HR management perspective.
