What is it about?

Community participation and integration can promote health and well-being; however, individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) were found to have limited community participation. Assessment information needs to be integrated into the rehabilitation plan to improve their environmental supports and community participation outcomes. The purpose of this study was to validate the measurement structure and psychometric properties of the Multiple Sclerosis Environmental Supports Scale using factor analysis. Three factors were revealed from the scale: (a) health and mental health services, (b) rehabilitation, social, and support services, and (c) community living supports.

Perspectives

I hope that rehabilitation professionals can use the Multiple Sclerosis Environmental Supports Scale to evaluate individuals with multiple sclerosis' environmental supports to better help them improve their community participation and integration.
