What is it about?

"Entrepreneuship" has become a buzzword in the arts, but does it have a place in PreK-12 music education? Why is it important?

To the extent that entrepreneurial thinking drives enhancements to teacher motivation, it should be integrated into pre- and in-service teacher education and professional development. Otherwise, teachers will go where they can grow-- that is, they may leave the teaching profession and seek alternative employment that honors their professionalism and motivational needs.

Perspectives

It is my hope that this article furthers discussion of teacher agency and self-determination. Music educators deserve careers based on passion, not prescription.
