Why is it important?
Ethiopia was and still is a symbol of the African epic narrative. Du Bios focused on sharing Knowledge of Ethiopia's history and contributions to world development as a means of enabling a counter-narrative to African enslavement in the Americas. He also encouraged mutual development of Ethiopian and African American interests. As many acknowledge 400 years since the forced removal and enslavement of Africans in the Americas (1619-2019), it is important to reassert the epic narratives of Ethiopia/Africa, to encourage broad knowledge of those narratives, and to validate African humanity and contributions to the world.
