What is it about?

There is limited knowledge about the role of organisational characteristics and environments in which people with mental illness experience recovery. We find that organisations which successfully implement recovery practice share particular values, capacities and features, that are reflected in their leadership and management.

Why is it important?

Our findings show the important role of organisational features when planning recovery-oriented practice for people living with mental illness.

Perspectives

Organisational conditions in which mental health services are provided are often not the subject of research. Instead the focus is on interventions. I hope my research helps to raise awareness of the importance of investigating the role of organisations in which people with mental illness participate and recover.
