What is it about?

How does the idea of corporate social responsibility play out when the firm in question is not a corporation but a small business?

Why is it important?

The vast majority of firms are small businesses - if we don't understand them, we don't understand the business world.

Perspectives

I am really proud of this paper because it is my biggest contribution to date in terms of using the enlightening approach of feminist ethics and the ethic of care in particular. Such approaches have been low profile in the ethics and corporate social responsibility field, but here I think I have been able to show how incredibly valuable they can be - and this article is getting some really good attention in the academic literature and social media. It is also a pleasure to help to get smaller businesses onto the agenda as they are also so quickly overlooked by the mainstream. There are a lot of other great feminist works relating to business ethic out there - I would encourage readers to find them and use them. Otherwise you are really missing out.
