What is it about?

Get insights about the way other elements bind to gold is important in order to undersrtand how to extract optimal conditions to give particular functionality to the assembly. By doing so, we can give it technological applications, for instance, in biomedical or sensor technology

Why is it important?

Our work shows how a sulfur environment modifies optical and plasmonic features of the system. Our discussion and results lead to a better understanding of this fine interaction, which may be used to design more specific measurements for get newer insights on particular fundamental aspects. Further, it can be used to propose real sensor applications and biomedical tests.

Perspectives

I see this contribution as a first insight of a fundamental aspect of interaction between the nanoparticle itself and the capping structure. It opens perspective for specific designed studies for demostrating the influency caused by lasers intruments used as main tool of detection (in Raman spectroscopy, for instance) and the interpretation attributed to the spectra.
