What is it about?
This study follows the principle of bilateral Palato-Pharyngeal Flap insertion in the palate. The presented technique is a modified mucosa-sparing technique of SP. Sparing of the cephalic mucosa of the both Flaps separates two raw surfaces (between the flap and its bed) and induces primary epithelization of the upper parts of the pharyngeal bed. Those factors would enhance the surgical results and overall outcomes for patients with VPI.

Why is it important?
The novel technique is a useful technique for correction of VPI in patients with weak palatal motion who show coronal or circular pattern of Velo-Pharyngeal Sphincter closure. The technique reported good surgical/functional outcomes.
