What is it about?
The paper is about how we remember words. Results showed that where we see words and their spatial meanings (for example, "bird" is associated with an upward location while "worm" is associated with a downward location) can affect how successful we remember them.

Why is it important?
It is important because space is usually a forgotten aspect of language. We don't learn words with their locations. However, even memory for words with metaphorical spatial locations (for example people think justice is up while disease is down) can be affected by those locations.
Perspectives
In a larger framework, the research can be regarded as a part of an embodied approach to language and memory.
