What is it about?

The paper brings together two different approaches to theorising urban planning; virtue ethics following the work of Alasdair MacIntyre and the post-political critiques of contemporary governance. It does so to offer new ways of judging the ethics and value of planning practice.

Why is it important?

The paper argues that ethical judgments about planning practice can be made in ways which are compatible with critiques of the post-political condition of contemporary governance. This both contributes to the development of planning theory and justifications for ethical decision-making in planning practice.
