What is it about?
Smaller studies have shown a decrease in surgery and radiation as initial treatment for Vestibular Schwannomas. Other studies have also shown an increase in detection of smaller tumors. Are the changing treatment trends a result of a decrease in the average tumor size at diagnosis or are they related to changing practice patterns? We used a large national tumor database to answer this question.

This study shows that in a recent decade, there has been a growing consensus among physicians to treat Vestibular Schwannomas with initial observation, potentially reflecting the increased knowledge of the natural progression of the disease.
