What is it about?
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability throughout the world, so it is important to identify factors (like depression) that can be modified or treated to improve the lives of people who suffer from stroke. We studied the relationship between pre-existing depression and independent ambulation at discharge in people who were hospitalized for stroke. There was an indication that treating depression could improve functional outcomes like ambulation post-stroke.
