What is it about?
The first reported case of neutropenia caused by Cobenfy (xanomeline/trospium), a new antipsychotic with a novel mechanism of action. This is where the white blood cell count drops to a low level that can lead to increased rate of infections and can be like threatening. Clozapine is the most well known medication to cause this. This paper raises awareness of the importance of monitoring the automated neutrophil count (ANC).

Why is it important?
It is important to raise awareness that more frequent blood monitoring might be necessary to ensure the safety of the patient.
Perspectives
This was the first patient we prescribed it for and after being on other medications such as clozapine and never saw a drop in the ANC while following the prescribing guidelines, we felt it was necessary to publish this article to make prescribers more aware that this could be a side effect that needs to be monitored more closely than others.
