What is it about?

Multi-drug resistant bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae is major cause of lung infection in humans. We found that this organism stimulates the production of inflammatory proteins that loosen the integrity of the lung barrier in an effort to recruit immune cells. This in turn allows for bacterial invasion.
