What is it about?

We show that elevated testosterone levels are linked to lower risk of asthma in adult women, and that elevated levels of testosterone and estradiol are correlated with lower risk of asthma in obese women but not in non-obese women. This suggest that sex hormones could help explain why women have more asthma than men, and that the effects (if any) of sex hormones on asthma in women may depend on whether they are obese.
