Why is it important?

Already poor political leadership and growing poverty and unemployment inspire frustration in the polity. And unless there is a radical change in positive in the standard of living of the common man, the state of insecurity will continue.

Perspectives

The EndSAR movement was built on the impetus already provided by the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Advancement’s (yiaga) “Not Too Young to Run campaign” and has since established itself as a voice for change and ignited a wave of sociopolitical consciousness to demand good governance and leadership accountability. The #EndSARS itself has already become a yearly event commemorated every October to reflect on the subject of justice, equal rights and good government in Nigeria. It has also been instrumental to the growing political consciousness among Nigerian youths, which many believe manifested itself in the #Obidient movement of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, as some prominent members of EndSARS were also members of the “Obidient.”
