What is it about?
Illegal logging is the most profitable trade of wildlife flora or fauna, and the biggest challenge to law enforcement officers is to determine what is the species of wood once it is encountered outside of its natural habitat. _x000D_ This paper describes how wood anatomy and chemistry can be used to identify two critically endangered trees from Chile and Argentina: Alerce (Fitzroya cupressoides (Mol.) Johnst.) and Guaitecas cypress (Pilgerodendron uviferum (Don) Florin). _x000D_
