Verein KlimaSeniorinnen Schweiz and Others v. Switzerland: the European Court of Human Rights’ Answer to Climate Change

What is it about?

In the matter of Verein KlimaSeniorinnen and Others v. Switzerland, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) issued its first climate change-related judgment. The Grand Chamber of the Court found that Switzerland was in breach of Articles 2 and 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) due to its failure to maintain and implement an adequate regulatory framework to mitigate climate change.
