What is it about?
This paper describes new findings of giant otter behaviour, including activity patterns, time budget and daily activities in an environment until recently considered as a threat to the species (a hydroelectric reservoir). The results revealed that giant otters are very resilient to these environments and presented only small differences from the behaviour observed in non-dammed areas. We believe that if the number of human settlements could be controlled on the reservoir, these man-made lakes can be used for the conservation of this endangered species.
