Species of Caridina nilotica group in China, with description of one new species (Crustacea, Decapoda, Atyidae)

What is it about?

The paper reviewed freshwater shrimps of Caridina nilotica species group found in China. Taxonomic diagnosis and discussions are given to three species so far known from China, namely. Caridina gracilipes De Man 1892, Caridina macrophora Kemp, 1918 and Caridina elongapoda Liang & Yan, 1977. Detailed morphological description and illustrations are provided for a new species. Caridina sheni sp. nov. is morphologically similar to C. gracilipes but could be distinguished by its much longer dactylus of third and fifth pereiopods, and lesser number of ventral rostral teeth.
