What is it about?
The paper describes the first ever video-based analysis of adult reconciliatory behaviour following naturally occurring interpersonal aggression, captured by public space CCTV. Building on work in ethology, anthropology, and developmental psychology, the paper records the prevalence of different human adult reconciliatory actions in an urban, industrialized context. We introduce five common features of reconciliation that are central to the study of conciliation in this domain and examine how a repertoire of conciliatory actions are distributed across conflict severity levels and our five common features.
