This study compares how well Spanish-English adolescents with hearing loss are able to use refusals in both of their languages and what strategies they used when making refusals.

The pragmatic abilities of both groups appeared higher in English than in Spanish, but it cannot be concluded that adolescents with hearing loss lack pragmatic abilities in either language.
