What is it about?
How does the theological theme of grace relate to education? In what way is education 'graceful'? This article dives into the different meanings of the concept of grace in the Protestant and Catholic tradition and tries to connect these meanings with the reality of education. In sum, the article tries to see education in the light of what Marilynne Robinson called 'The givenness of things'. Specific sources of interest in this article are Athanasius, Thomas Aquinas, Gert Biesta and Roel Kuiper.

Why is it important?
Modern day educational practice suffers from a sphere of controllability, measurement, efficiency and managing of outcomes. Grace is one of those welcome theological concepts in modern society, particularly in education.
Perspectives
I love to connect theology and education (this even happens to be my job!) and this was one of those opportunities in which I could make that connection explicitly.
