What is it about?
In this article I analyse how in the novel Silence du chœur Mohamed Mbougar Sarr portrays migration to Italy. He doesn't represent migration as a homogeneous phenomenon but focuses on individual histories and destinies. I am furthermore interested in how Mohamed Mbougar Sarr emphasises the importance of the transmission of these histories. In his novel, he shows that this transmission depends on both interlocutors: migrants must be able and willing to share their stories but other people also need to be willing to listen to and to understand them.
