What is it about?
An introduction to the English edition of the collected works of the Japanese economist Samezo Kuruma on Marx's theory of crisis, written by the translator. In addition to introducing Kuruma's project to systematize Marx's writings into a coherent theory of crisis, the author introduces his life and times.

Why is it important?
This is the first work to present a detailed overview of one of the key Marxist theories on crisis.
Perspectives
This is the culmination of my 20-year engagement with the thought of Samezo Kuruma. Through this work I have come into contact with many scholars of Marx in Japan and also managed to bring Kuruma's work to the attention of the English-speaking world.
