What is it about?

This text shares the stories of recent doctoral students in Physical and Health Education. Fundamentally, health and physical educators—and those who prepare them—are ‘helpers’. Success is contingent upon support. Helpful people within a wide support system are essential for achieving the daunting goal of earning an academic doctorate.

Why is it important?

We can learn from each other’s experiences; the resulting knowledge has application because D-H/PETE journeys, although deeply personal, often share several thematic similarities. ‘Growth’ is not necessarily a passive consequence of time. Seek growth opportunities. Seek advice. Seek challenges simply so you can learn how to overcome them.

Perspectives

Higher education needs great leaders at all positions. This text will increase the success of those who will be academic leaders.
