What is it about?
Public goods are services or products that can be used by anyone, and their availability does not decrease with use. For something to be considered a public good, it must be accessible to everyone, regardless of payment. It's availability should not decrease when one person uses it. In this chapter, the authors explore global public goods (GPGs), which are connected to sustainable development. It explores how investing in things like better crops or disease prevention has helped reduce poverty and can make living conditions better for everyone. It also shows how GPGs fit with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. These goals aim to make sure everyone can thrive and protect the environment.

Why is it important?
The COVID-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukrainian War have shown why countries need to work together in crises. The United Nations’s 2030 Agenda for SDGs focuses on GPGs to tackle global problems. To build a sustainable future, it is important to know how GPGs work and the challenges in funding and providing them. KEY TAKEAWAY: Effective cooperation among countries is crucial for providing things like clean air and global health protections that benefit everyone worldwide. By working together, countries can solve bigger problems, making sure the world gets better for everyone. This research relates to the following Sustainable Development Goals: •SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals •SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being •SDG 13: Climate Action •SDG 1: No Poverty •SDG 2: Zero Hunger
