An early Ottoman thinker reassesses the nature of time

What is it about?

Does time exist outside the mind or do we just imagine it? If time exists then does it exist as a static whole or as a constant flux of fleeting parts? And to what extent is time dependent on motion? This paper examines the Ottoman thinker Dawud al-Qaysari's boldly radical response to these questions in his hitherto unexplored treatise on the philosophy of time.
