What is it about?

Franklin writes an entertaining and sobering history of the concept of "creativity." He convincingly argues that it is a concept that is freely and opportunistically used by a variety of stakeholders because it is a very attractive qualification for ideas, products, and behaviours. However, the fact that it has never been defined satisfactorily means that it remains a very vague concept that has more often than not served the needs of high-capitalism.
