What is it about?
This article describes computer software created by the author, which enables the creation of sound textures composed of hundreds or thousands of tiny sound events organised using fractal geometry. Sound textures are displayed on a computer screen before being realised, and an intuitive interface allows the user to create and modify these textures in an intuitive fashion.

Why is it important?
Granular synthesis usually employs statistical methods to organise sound textures. This is the first time that fractal geometry has been used to create a deterministic micro-polyphony of a single input melody. The results demonstrate much greater vitality and interest across a range of time scales, yielding valuable resources for the composer of electronic music.
