Why is it important?

Our findings show that overall there was inadequate knowledge of COVID-19 among parents'and caregivers of children and adolescents in Nigeria and there monthly income were significantly affected. The study findings were pertinent because it highlights the need for more public health information and alerts the Nigerian government to improve on context-specific strategies to help curb the devastating effects of the virus on the earnings of Nigerian parents arising from the measures put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure for me as it enabled me to substantiate the fact that due to inadequate knowledge parents were less likely to adequately implement the preventive measures with an incresed likelihood of rapid spread of the virus among their households; in addition, since their income were significantly affected, especially for the low-income earnings families, these are very likely ingredients which would inturn make curbing the spread of the virus particularly challenging in Nigeria.
