What is it about?
Here we studied how differences in the plasmapheresis procedure, in particular the amount of plasma collected, and in the donor features, in particular sex, had an impact on the amount of anticoaugulant, citrate, re-infused to the donor

Why is it important?
Frequent re-infusion of citrate, such as in multiple plasma donors, may have consequences in correct bone re-mineralization, although the evidences in support of this hypothesis are still uncertain. Nevertheless, to minimize the risk for the donor it is important to develop tailored transfusion approaches aiming at decresing the amount of citrate re-infused.
