What is it about?

By characterizing the principal gene and encoded molecule responsible for the differentiation of monocytes and macrophages in the amphibian Xenopus, we show that in this species monocytic precursors reside in the bone marrow rather than in the primary hematopoietic site of the sub-capsular liver.
