What is it about?
The COVID-19 is a febrile illness and predominantly produces respiratory symptoms. However, there are several unexplored and unusual manifestations of the disease. This article focuses on the neurological problems of COVID-19. We encountered several patients with fever and altered mental status &/or seizure. Their COVID-19 PCR came out to be positive. A thorough evaluation was done to explore the possible cause of the altered mental state. Interestingly, COVID-19 was the only explanation for their mental state. Another import aspect of the study is the use of Tocilizumab and Methylprednisolone that proved beneficial for our patients.

Why is it important?
Unusual but potential problems associated with COVID-19 pneumonia need to be unmasked and investigated. Physicians must be aware of the association between COVID-19 and Encephalitis. A thorough workup is essential to rule out all other possible causes, as there is still no definitive disease defining test for the diagnosis. Brain MRI and CSF testing can be helpful tools. Further studies on the safety and efficacy of Tocilizumab and corticosteroids in patients with COVID associated neutologic problems must be carried out.
