What is it about?

Thymic carcinoma is a rare entity in itself with immune phenomena very uncommon when contrasted with thymoma. We have detailed not one, but two cases of thymic carcinoma with unusual immune phenomena. This report details how they presented and touches on treatment options.

Why is it important?

These cases are important as very little has been reported regarding thymic carcinoma immune phenomena and its treatment. Our reports details two cases that presented at a similar point in time at a single institution and contrasts the two recognised treatment approaches. This is important as there is not yet a consensus on how to treat these patients and their immune phenomena.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a rewarding experience as it mirrors the importance of multidisciplinary practice needed in a clinical context to treat these patients. The authors of this report were the clinicians involved in treating these patients in the real world. It also pays tribute to the valuable contribution of our patients and their kindness to allow us to present their cases in the hope it will help others in the future.
