What is it about?
Septic pulmonary embolism (SPE) is a rare disease that presents with non-specific symptoms and signs, therefore it is difficult to diagnose. In addition, some clues such as bilateral nodule and/or cavity with feeding vessel finding on thorax CT may remind us of SPE. In this article, we discussed a case who was referred with the prediagnosis of tuberculosis due to cavitary lung lesions, in order to highlight SPE in the differential diagnosis of multiple cavities and to draw attention to the initiation of early antibiotic therapy.

Why is it important?
In SPE, mortality is between 10 and 20% and is mainly caused by septic shock and multi-organ failure. Early diagnosis and timely treatment determine the disease prognosis.
