What is it about?
Phytochemical naringin causes an increase in the production of FoxM1 transcription factor in the beta cells of the diabetic rat pancreas. FoxM1 is a factor expressed only in dividing cells. Its expression in the pancreatic beta cells of diabetic rats shows that naringin induces proliferation in the beta cells. The study reveals one of the possible mechanism by which naringin ameliorates diabetes.
