What is it about?
Continuous tilt measurements are used for ground deformation monitoring in many active volcanic areas in the world. Tilt signals allowed detecting and studying volcanic processes such as magma intrusion, fracture propagation, and volume changes of magmatic or hydrothermal systems. Tiltmeters are highly sensitive instruments, also able to record the small ground deformation occurring during a Strombolian episode.
