Why is it important?

Our data support that DXA scanning of women with early breast cancer should be performed to avoid overestimation of osteoporosis by fracture risk assessment tool (FRAX) before aromatase inhibitor treatment. It is particularly important in patients older than 65 years of age and when zoledronic acid is not an option.

Perspectives

I hope the recommendations of this article can be taken into consideration by clinicians to urge older patients to do DXA scans before treatment. I hope you find this article thought-provoking.
