What is it about?
The work involves the use of Dwarf and Tall-tree varieties of coconut shells for the production of activated carbon which is suitable for absorbing methylene blue dye (a poisonous substance/contaminant) from waste water effluents especially from the textile industries. Optimum concentrations of the best activating agent was used to determine the most suitable absorbent. The optimum pH, and temperature were also determined from the experiments conducted. Statistical analyses of a model (DRT) was also carried out in order to establish the confidence level of the model predictions.
