What is it about?
Acid secretion and Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) are two main causes, as well as aggravating factors, of gastric ulcers occurrence. This work was designed to verify if Eremomastax speciosa is able to counteract the deleterious effects of these two factors. Secondly, it was important to evaluate how much time could last the antisecretory effect of this plant extract.

Why is it important?
Currently, the conventional approach is to use tri- or quadritherapy (with a lot of side effects) for the management of gastric ulcers. This study shows that alternative ways (by using local natural products) are possible, with very good outcomes.
