What is it about?
This study describes the level of respiratory research engagement as well as identifies the barriers and facilitators to research engagement in healthcare professionals. This study also describes the experiences and interest in developing research skills among healthcare professionals. Additionally, it identifies priority areas for future respiratory research.

Why is it important?
Our findings identified the reasons that contributed to the lack of involvement in respiratory research included lack of mentorship, support, and funding. Whereas the top facilitators for research engagement included funding and mentorship. We also found that respondent in research positions rated their research skills high, whereas respondents in non-research positions rated their research skills as low. Both groups indicated an interest in improving their skills.
