What is it about?

In the process of constructing high-speed railways in permafrost or seasonally frozen areas, pile foundations subject to traffic loadings or impact loadings are extensively used. We present a study on the dynamic responses of piles in frozen soil areas for the first time.

Why is it important?

The axial displacements of an end-bearing pile in a frozen soil under impact loading in the time domain are calculated for the first time in cold regions engineering community. It is shown that the cementation between the solid particles and ice has a significant impact on the dynamic responses of the pile.

Perspectives

This article provides a way to solve the problem of the dynamic interaction between permafrost and pile for engineers and researchers who pay attention to permafrost engineering. We hope you find this article thought-enlightening.
