What is it about?
Radiation therapy is often used in adult patients with extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma in conjunction with surgery and chemotherapy. However, how useful the radiation therapy is in terms of treatment remains unclear. This paper looked at does the addition of radiation therapy improve survival and decrease recurrence.

Why is it important?
In those patients with extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma treated with surgery and chemotherapy, the addition of radiation therapy did not improve survival nor decrease recurrence. This suggests radiation therapy may not be needed. The treatment that most improved survival and decreased recurrence was chemotherapy.
