What is it about?

To advance knowledge across disciplines it is crucial to bridge the gap between readers and writers of scientific texts. We introduce Reader-aware Congruence Assistant (RaCA): an approach to scientific writing that adapts texts to target readers. RaCA dynamically computes reader profiles from academic search engines or scholarly applications, inspired by User-Centered Design(UCD), and leverages large language models (LLMs) to measure text-reader congruence.

Why is it important?

RaCA aims to support authors in creating texts that are better aligned with reader backgrounds, potentially enhancing comprehension, supporting socio-discursive practices within disciplinary communities in an expanding Web of scientific ideas.

Perspectives

I think that Reader Profiles based on publications by potential readers are, at least in principle, a good idea.
