What is it about?
This work reports on a reflective approach. This approach was applied to a finished development and design mixed reality project. The project was conducted with a partner from industry. We first collected all documentation we generated during the project. This data then was annotated with reflections and further insights. The reprocessed data was discussed with experts to add more depth to the data. Finally, with the data body, five design patterns have been defined. The design patterns focus on situations in the real environments conditions and the designers expectations clash. We frame this the Virtuality-Reality Clash. The aim of the design patterns is to give mixed reality developers and designers a guideline how to handle phenomena around the Virtuality-Reality Clash.

Why is it important?
We reprocessed documentation of a 9-month development and design project and generated design patterns which developers and designers can pick up to inform their mixed reality design. The reflective approach can serve as an example to others to do similar exercises on their finished projects
