What is it about?
Our study explores the world of fossil preparation, a crucial step in studying and showcasing ancient life. We looked at both traditional methods, which involve physically cleaning and preserving fossils, and modern digital techniques that create 3D models of fossils without damaging them. We found that both methods have their struggles, spoke with fossil preparators and researchers, and observed their work to understand these challenges better. We aim to spark a conversation about improving these processes, making it easier for these experts to do their job and for everyone to learn about our planet's history.
