What is it about?
In this paper, we explore the exciting world of immersive sports, focusing on the traditional activity of dragon boating. Using advanced virtual reality technology, we've created an environment where users can truly feel and experience the movement and sensations of dragon boating. Imagine paddling with iron sticks and feeling the resistance of the water, all while being surrounded by lifelike scenes such as the Pearl River in Guangdong. By combining visuals with tactile, kinesthetic, and environmental experiences, our Dragon Boat simulator offers a comprehensive training tool that merges the virtual with the real. This research lays the foundation for a new era of sports training, where the boundaries between the virtual and real worlds blur.

Why is it important?
In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, the blend of physical and virtual experiences is redefining how we interact with sports and training methods. Our work is at the forefront of this transformation, focusing on dragon boating, a culturally rich and physically demanding sport. By using virtual reality to recreate the intricate nuances of this activity, we are opening doors to more accessible, efficient, and comprehensive training methods. The ability to simulate real-world environments, like the Pearl River, paired with tactile and kinesthetic feedback, ensures an authentic experience. This research not only enhances the accessibility of dragon boating training but also sets a precedent for how traditional sports can be reimagined in the age of the metaverse, potentially increasing engagement and readership among enthusiasts, professionals, and tech aficionados alike.
