What is it about?

The Intuitive Jacket builds on an ongoing study by Dr Tor Alexander Bruce, exploring the use of immersive, walk-in environments in a context of trauma mental healthcare. The jacket offers a participant opportunity to interact with themselves as the interface.

Why is it important?

It is both timely and unique in that it offers a novel way of experiencing a mental healthcare intervention for trauma, while also permitting the user to become personally active and engaged in a therapeutic intervention. Typically, therapies are 1-1 seated discussions. The Intuitive Jacket as with The Timeline in the associated study, expand beyond this toward a more embodied interactivity.

Perspectives

This publication is a start point. There are plenty of wearable technologies but The Intuitive Jacket is applicable to trauma. The aim is to continue to modify the garment and to trial and evaluate its use.
